Bryan deLeon, R2R alum, wins best documentary at The Shortie Awards: Student Film and News Festival, for his film A Crecer Como Una Persona, and is subsequently invited to screen the film at the American Film Institute’s Silverdocs Festival featuring the best documentaries internationally.

RAW artist and alum Thonah Ep receives the state's highest honor in the arts and humanities, the Commonwealth Award, in the area of Creative Learning.
 
 
CORE program launched

RAW pilots a new program, CORE, to teach teens the core skills of art and artmaking, helping them to build a strong foundation in art. CORE artists, Hongchau Huynh and Thonah Ep, receive the Senator Paul Tsongas Scholarship Award—two of only five recipients of a four-year scholarship to Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

RAW introduces Talent and Purpose (TAP), to expand and professionalize youth employment at RAW. TAP offers real world training and potential for the next generation. TAP's 41 positions include: RAW Chief teen mentors; Good 2 Go community artists; Door to Door alumni artists who create art for fundraising purposes; administrative assistants, and assistants in Real to Reel film school.

Research of best practices in youth arts evaluation

RAW's Program Director, Käthe Swaback, leads The Boston Youth Arts Evaluation Project with a three-year grant to investigate and contribute to best practices in youth arts evaluation on a national level. Collaborating with Boston non-profits and leaders in the nation, the project has researched, designed, implemented, and is now offering innovative evaluation methods and tools that will effectively measure progress and outcomes in the complex field of Youth Arts.
